Building Your Business While You're Still In Your 9-5 Job

Are you tired of your day job and intend to start your own,  but still need the security of your day job just in case starting up your start-up (pun intended) does not exactly go well?  There are many others like you,  and the transition can be quite harrowing especially when your day job is not one that gives you joy.  In truth, you may have the ambition,  but sometimes, ambition is not just enough. You need drive and motivation.
Here are some steps to ease you through the transition process and help you avoid them pitfall of discouragement.
9-5 Job
     1. You have to know the 'why': Why do you want to quit your present job?  Why do you want to work for yourself?  The answers to the above questions will be your drive whenever you start to feel discouraged.  Think of that your annoying boss,  or the fact that your day job does not give you enough time for yourself or the fact that that you could be laid off at any time. Use it as a tool to push yourself.

     2. Create a personal vision for the business and commit yourself to it: As always,  your vision should be in writing with everyday of it planned out.  Put all your effort, everything, into it.  If you're not there fully, you are only fooling yourself.  Don't just start half hearted,  give it your all. Read your vision aloud every morning and tell everyone who's willing to listen.  When you feel discouraged,  think of how glorious the end you have in mind is and strive towards that goal.

     3. List out daily goals: There are long term goals,  and there are daily goals.  Start out your day with a plan of what you hope to achieve at the end of that day and evaluate the day at the end of the day (plenty days). Remember,  small consistent steps eventually lead to big distances

     4.  Remain optimistic about your day job: Sometimes it's hard, I know.  Sometimes, you're under appreciated at work, I know.  Sometimes, that guy with the bad attitude just annoys you,  I know. But make it a point of duty to think about everything good about the present job ( small as they are) .Negativity is exhausting, rid yourself of all that negative energy and focus more on the positives.  It helps.

     5. Unlearn,  Learn,  Relearn: Read everything and anything related to the business you intend to start.  Search the internet, watch videos,  read books.  Find a mentor who has made it in that field.  Let that mentor be your motivation.
