Harnessing The Power Of Social Media [ Facebook ] 1

Marketing in the last decade has evolved from just TV adverts, posters and billboards to targeted and customer specific adverts on the internet.  The internet guarantees a wider reach and a bigger audience than TV,  posters and billboards combined.
Facebook has been a key player and a veritable tool in the hands of internet markerters,  not just because of the numbers they can provide in terms of audience, but because they can ensure that your post ad gets to an audience interested in it.
Let me tell you something creepy ( depending on your stand point)
Facebook
Facebook collects data (behavioural, online activity etc) of their users  to  give you access to exactly who you're going after without having to buy a list. Facebook partnered with data giants Epsilon, Acxiom, and Datalogix to allow brands to match the data gathered through things like shopper loyalty programs, sweepstakes, credit card data, and government records.  This is the ultimate birthday gift for advertisers,  and you be forgiven if you shudder at the thought of how much data is being collected about you.

Facebook offers something known as 'Partner Categories' to US users. This Partner Categories is a targeting option that you can use with your adverts to reach the right people based on their activity outside facebook.

Facebook adverts is perhaps the best for internet marketing and guarantees incredible return on investment. Here are a couple of tips for using facebook ads.

1. Be Specific About Your Audience :

Targeting too broadly sounds like a good idea right?  Wrong.   The nature of your advert should be such that it meets the people who are really interested in it.  It would be a waste of effort to spread yourself out too thinly by wanting to reach a wider audience with with little or no interest.  Narrow it down,  be specific.

2. It's Seldom About You/ Your Service /Your Product

Except you are a well established brand, nobody will click on your address for you or your product.  People want to know what they can gain from something.  Your ad should be about what can be gained from using your product.

3. Creativity Counts

Most ads on the internet these days are messed up.  What they lack in creativity,  the make up for in a whole lot of BS.  Do not copy ads like that.  Think,  get creative.

4. Do Not Boost Your Post

As tempting as the prospect sounds,  you have to realize that facebook is out to make profit,  the more you spend,  the more they end.  It's an almost useless option,  and there are more effective ways to advertise on facebook.
