Harnessing The Power Of Social Media [ Snapchat ] 2

In recent times social media has become an important tool for marketing.  Businesses that have learnt to use social media have seen significant growth  in revenue and reduction in the cost of advertising.
In the first part  of this social media series,  we learnt how to use facebook to widen our reach and expand our audience.
Today, we'll be learning how to use Snapchat to grow our market.
Snapchat

Snapchat is a video and picture messaging and sharing app developed for Android and iPhone in 2011. Snapchat allows users to take photos and record videos and send them to a controlled list of recipients.
In October 2013, Snapchat introduced the "My story" feature that allowed users to compile snaps  ( pictures and videos)  into chronological storylines that their friends and the public can view for one day.
At present,  Snapchat has more than a hundred million downloads on the Google Play Store and and estimated 26 million users in just The United States.  If those numbers do not get you licking your lips, I wonder what will.
In this post you will learn how to use Snapchat to promote your business and ultimately grow your business.

     Why So Serious??

Let's be real here,  Snapchat is a social media platform with an average user age group of 12-34, believe me, these users are not interested in seeing all the corporate black and white in their snaps.
Get creative with your posts,  make it fun to view but don't get too caught up in the fun to neglect to professional aspect of it.  Strike a balance between fun and professionalism .

It Is More Than Just The Product

Snapchat can be and should be more engaging.  Use it to show case the behind the scene operation of your company ( and  have fun doing it ) . You can use it as a means to show the world what makes your product stand out and how different your brand is from the rest.
There's a wide range of fun tools to use on Snapchat.  Allow for variety,  if possible,  let members of staff take turns to run the Snapchat account on different days.

     We All Love Incentives

Who doesn't like a good incentive?  Not many people.  Using incentives is a marketing strategy that has proven successful over time and still works today.  Encourage users/followers/friends to share posts with friends with the promise of an incentive and watch the magic.

Don't Forget To Show Off Special Events

In June 2014,  Snapchat expanded the "my story" feature to include "live stories". This new feature allowed users on location at specific events to contribute snaps to a curated montage advertised to all users.  Live Stories has been used,  and is still being used by the NBA to great effect .
Using this feature,  you can give your audience members direct access to your live events (anniversaries,  trade shows etc) no matter where they are .

Don't Forget To Show Off New Products Too

In showing off new products, you don't necessarily have to show off everything.  The trick here is to tease the audience with videos and pictures of new products, to get the audience creating the right buzz and making the right noise even before product launch.

The sheer number of potential customers that can be reached on Snapchat is something that should encourage business owners to join the Snapchat train.  The market is wide,  and the cost of advertising is cheap.  Why not harness this potential of epic proportions today. You are missing a lot if you don't use it.
