Grow Your Social Media Presence In 8 Steps

Today,  I won't go on and on and on about how useful social media is for business growth.  There have been earlier posts about harnessing the power of facebook and Snapchat.  Today,  I will be teaching you how to grow your social media presence and followership and trust me,  it can be pretty hard without the right guidance.

Social media

#1 Use The Social Media Network As Best As Can Be Used

Every social network ( facebook,  instagram,  twitter etc.)  has it's own peculiar function. For instance,  Facebook reaches a general audience,  twitter allows for more of a conversation and instagram let's you show off your products.  This simply implies that you can not have the same content on facebook,  twitter and instagram at the same time.  Maximise that usefulness of whichever is available.

     #2 Content Is King

Your posts on social media should be tailored in such a way as to ensure that your followers come back for more.  This can online achieved by giving them quality content on a constant basis. Posts should be planned ahead of time and reviewed thoroughly before posting

#3 Respond Fast and Be Human About It

Nobody likes to know that they are only as important as computer generated auto reply in the same way that nobody likes slow replies.  To build a genuine follower base,  replies to comments and messages should be as human as possible so as to create a connection between you and your followers. Inject a bit of humour into your posts,  nothing about your social media personality should be bland or insipid, share fun videos,  be friendly and respond to messages with kindeness. Being witty and a tad sacarstic can also help.

#4 Get Your Followers To Hit The Buttons

A million followers don't mean anything if they don't actually follow.  Every once in a while,  get your followers to hit the social media buttons.  For instance,  a simple like,  share or retweet button can be used to create a lot of awareness about you and your brand.  However,  people tire easily of having to share,  like,  retweet and subscribe therefore, this is a card you shouldn't play too often.

     #5  Organize Online Contests

This is the oldest trick in the book, but by no means the least effective. Organize contests where people will be rewarded for sharing your post,  commenting on your post, liking a post etc.  Let's face it, there is almost nobody who wouldn't be interested in getting free stuff for absolutely nothing.  Give discounts for products pre-ordered from your social media outlets, it works like a charm.

#6 Make Yourself Known By Following And Engaging The Guys Before You

This is a tip for newbies in the social world.  There is no better way to introduce yourself to your potential audience than by getting the guys who have succeeded in your field to talk about/with you.  It gives you credibility and the credibility translates to followership.
Let's say you run a blog on music and you need a bigger audience, it will not hurt to do posts or articles on a musician and have the link tweeted with the name of the musician mentioned  ( make sure the post is good) . There is a good chance you'll get a retweet from the musician which also implies that he'll be advertising you to his audience.  It's as simple as that.  Piggyback !

#7 Do One Thing Really Well

I love football/soccer and there's an account on twitter I follow @paddypower. The one thing they do really well Is sarcasm.  Their posts are hilarious and they never fail to remind us of the purpose of their twitter account by posting odds of matches in the midst of their sarcasm.  My point is,  they have managed to create a strong social media presence from their sarcasm because they get a lot of retweets and replies which helps to spread their name and brand on twitter.  Be known for something you do very well.
You should not try to be everything to everybody on every social media network.  Start with the one most suitable for your business or brand and make posts tailored to suit that network.  After you have established a huge fan base,  move on to the next most promising social media network and make posts relevant to that network

     #8 Be Yourself

Pretty cliche this one. When all else fails,  you can always be you in the end.
